Eva was an artist, musician, writer, and by all accounts, a mischievious soul. She was the founder of the SF Savants: part experimental post-punk band, and part graffiti crew.
During her short time in our presence she left us with a stunning glimpse into her creative potential.
She was born May 29, 1971 in Oakland, CA, daughter of
Katherine "Peggy" Lucien,
local mystic & member of several experimental communes, and famed financial wizard
Blair Lucien.
She achieved local notoriety as a teenager for a series of elaborate stunts at her high school, which eventually ended in her arrest and expulsion.
Her first pranks were designed to disrupt the daily operations of school, and over time they developed into highly conceptual undertakings that received national attention.
As talented as she was, there is no doubt that she was also quite troubled. It is known that she'd dropped out of high school, her relationship with her remaining parent was strained, she was on probation and under psychiatric care.
Her sudden disappearance shocked the city and left a whole in the lives of many who knew her.
about
This project all began with my blog, "
Remembering Eva", which traced my growing obsession with the memories of this unique person that I had barely even known.
Through my work on that I became introduced and reintroduced to a number of Eva's past associates, who all shared a dedicated fondness for her.
I've received dozens of e-mails from people who knew her or simply knew of her, who wanted to share their thoughts and feelings about what she meant to them.
It is our hope that through our collective participation of sharing our personal memories, that eventually we may finally discover what actually happened to Ms Lucien.
True, there is a flicker of hope that we all keep burning, that she may indeed be alive and return to us one day from wherever she has been.
It is through your involvement that we get closer to this goal.
